Overview |
Speaker bio: English/Japanese instructor; technical and medical translator; and licensed acupuncturist certified by the Japan Society of Acupuncture and Moxibustion. I enjoy Western classical languages such as Latin and Ancient Greek, as well as the Chinese classics. I am also interested in Old and Middle English. Since 2015, I have been offering grief care and hosting Death Cafés and end-of-life education workshops. My academic background is in applied linguistics—particularly linguistics, education, and corpus linguistics—through which I conducted research on language and language education. After the passing of my wife, I obtained qualifications in acupuncture, acupressure, and massage, a field I had been interested in since childhood. I later earned certification as a lymphedema therapist at the Földi Clinic in Germany. To study basic research, I pursued doctoral studies at Tohoku University Graduate School of Dentistry, focusing on bone tissue development and histology. I earned a Medical Writing Certificate at the University of California, San Diego. I currently major in Classics at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David. My current interests lie in research and education related to language and communication in healthcare. |
