Part 1: A Career in Translation: Starting from Scratch

So you want to be a translator, but don’t know where to start? This session will focus on the steps to become a professional J2E translator and present some basic concepts in the industry (generalization v specialization, in-house v freelance, direct clients v agencies).

Experienced translators are very welcome, too, and if interested, will be given an opportunity to share their knowledge.

Part 2: Improving English Writing Skills

Whether a beginner or an old-timer, this session will serve as a reminder to wordsmiths about the pitfalls of sesquipedalianism, introduce plain English writing concepts, and play with sentence structure to achieve concise, meaningful written English.
