Received BA in German from UC Santa Barbara in 1987. Based in Osaka, Japan since 1988. Translating/interpreting J-to-E since 1991. Six years programming (porting & localization on UNIX and Windows) and translating/interpreting in-house for Japanese software companies. Working as editor, translator, and systems administrator for Kyoto-based translation company since 1997. Started Fantast Consulting in 2000 to handle special freelance projects, including the translation of O'Reilly & Associates' "Ruby in a Nutshell."
