I am currently a physician working at a nursing home in Osaka three days a week. I am also a blues guitarist and I have my own band, which performs at blues clubs in Osaka. Besides becoming a professional musician, my dream is to become a freelance translator so that I can live wherever I want and work at home. I lived in the United States for a little over 13 years. I was a bluesman most of the time I was in the US, playing with various bands in Oregon. The last two and a half years in the US, I attended a graduate school in California and acquired a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree. While I was in the US, I passed the first two steps of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) and acquired an Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certificate. However, I couldn't get into a residency program there and returned to Japan in 2000. It's been 7 years since I attended the IJET in Miyazaki and joined JAT. And I've been working as a freelance checker with a translation firm in the US and have been enjoying checking medical translations in my spare time.
