オハイオ州立大学の東アジア言語文学科を卒業し、日本語と言語文学を専攻しておりました。在学中には神戸での留学プログラムに参加いたしました。卒業後の2006年から2007年にかけては、宮城県での国際交流プログラムに従事いたしました。

2007年9月より、フリーランスの翻訳者として専業で活動しており、これまでに1,000万文字を超える日本語の翻訳を手がけてまいりました。専門分野は法務（特に契約書や利用規約等）および医療（特に医療機器関連）でございますが、一般的な翻訳や一部のIT関連資料（ユーザーインターフェース等）の対応も可能です。

翻訳、校正、 MTPE のプロとして、高い生産性と品質の両立に自信があります。 特に迅速な対応力とクライアントニーズへの柔軟な対応がクライアントから高く評価されております。 CAT ツール、音声認識ソフト、大規模な用語集等を活用し、効率的な作業を実現しており ます。また、新しい分野の翻訳にも挑戦し、多様なプロジェクトで成果を上げており ます。改善の余地がある場合は謙虚にアドバイスを受け止め、自己成長を心がけており ます。 人工知能の時代においても十分適応しており、 その技術に伴う 新たなチャレンジにも柔軟に対応できます。

新たな翻訳技術の導入、特に人工知能を活用した機械翻訳がもたらす課題に取り組むことに興味を持っております。 これにより生まれる生産性向上の機会を最大限に活用しながら、 その新しい技術の普及に伴う 問題を解決するために尽力したいと考えております。また、日本語の美しさや優雅さが英語翻訳において失われることのないよう に守りつつ英訳においてその美しさや優雅さを表現することにも重点を置いております。これらの技術に習熟するだけでなく、人間ならではの特性を活かし、技術と人間が融合した真の「21 世紀の翻訳者」として成長したいと考えております。

I am an alumnus of the Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures at the Ohio State University, where I majored in Japanese language and literature. While an undergraduate, I took part in a semester abroad in Kobe. After graduating, I participated in a cultural exchange program in Miyagi Prefecture from 2006~2007.

Since September of 2007, I have been a full-time freelance translator and have translated more than 10 million Japanese characters professionally. I specialize in legal (especially contracts, terms and conditions, etc.) and medical (especially medical devices). I also do "general" translations and some IT materials (user interfaces, etc.).

As a professional translator, editor, and MTPE specialist, I take pride in consistently achieving high productivity without compromising quality. Clients have especially praised my responsiveness and flexibility in meeting their needs. I work efficiently by leveraging CAT tools, speech recognition software, and extensive termbases. I also actively take on new fields of translation and have delivered strong results across a diverse range of projects. When there is room for improvement, I accept feedback with gratitude and strive for continual growth. I have adapted well to the age of artificial intelligence and am fully capable of responding flexibly to the challenges that come with new technologies.

I am particularly interested in addressing the challenges posed by the adoption of new translation technologies, especially AI-based machine translation. I aim to make the most of the increased productivity these tools can offer while also working to solve for the problems that they can cause. At the same time, I place great importance on preserving and conveying the beauty and elegance of the Japanese language in English translation. Rather than simply mastering technology, I aspire to grow as a truly 21st-century translator: someone who harnesses the unique strengths of both humans and machines.
