Background

After an Engineering degree, I moved straight to Japan where I spent over ten years soaking up as much of the language as I could. After passing Level 1 of the JLPT in 2004, I began working as a full time J-to-E translator in 2005. In November 2010, I moved back to the UK and now live in London. My education in translation started with two years (2005-2006) in a Patent Attorney's office learning the ins and outs of patent translation and working on a variety of other technical and legal documents. Since going freelance I have worked on a wide variety of projects, focusing mainly on the fields of electronics, computing and medical devices, but also dealing with other areas. Recently, for example, I have completed a series of P&G product patents. Aside from patents, I have experience with manuals and copy for websites and brochures. The following is a small selection of the projects I have completed: Patent-related Procter and Gamble product patents Large number of semiconductor manufacturing patents Series of Panasonic Blu-Ray patents Sanyo battery patents Patents for mammography equipment Patents for power amplifiers Digital camera patents Office Actions for IBM, Panasonic and others Encryption system patents Technical Panasonic camera instruction manuals Digital camera instruction manuals (Nikon, Panasonic) Papers on encryption methodology Yamaha engine manual High-grade audio cable website Nano-materials website Service manuals for Konami Games machines Nikon factory service manuals
