About the Seminar:
Our speaker, Kyal Hill, will provide his perspective as a lawyer in answering the question "What do lawyers really value in the service provided by freelance translators?" Kyal notes that questions are welcome, and no topic is taboo (in principle!). Translators of all fields and descriptions will be most welcome; all perspectives can be informative. His hope is you will leave with a little more clarity in how you can work with lawyers.

About the Speaker:
Kyal is a former legal translator of 15-odd years who now works as a lawyer at Hogan Lovells in Tokyo. He started his legal translation career in-house at Mori Hamada & Matsumoto and then worked freelance directly for law firms and companies for eight years, half of that through his own Japanese company. As an associate in the intellectual property team at Hogan Lovells, Kyal drafts, reviews, and helps negotiate contracts (in English and Japanese) for the development of new technologies.

Kyal is admitted to practice law in NSW, Australia and holds a Masters in Japanese Interpreting and Translation (MAJIT) from the University of Queensland. In his spare time, he quenches his thirst with delicious India Pale Ales, cleanses his soul volunteering for an awesome NPO called Place To Grow, and crushes his body practicing Olympic weightlifting.

This seminar will take place in English, but the speaker can take questions in either language.
