PART II: Panel Discussion
"Targeting 5 million yen per year: Reconsider the way you work with agencies"

Abstract:
For freelance translators aiming to keep a stable income with a reasonable rate, "having direct interaction with the source client" is often said to be crucial. However, in reality, some freelance translators feel paperwork including invoicing troublesome, there are those who are not confident in their personal communication skills, and many others again prefer an agency as a middle-man to manage their schedules and provide a stable supply of assignments. In this session, "How to work with agencies" is discussed from the perspectives of an agency director, source client and freelance translator to examine how we can build a win-win relationship.
