Have you heard?! Columbus ranks as Best City in the World! "It has the best library in the country, the best zoo in the country, the best science center in America, and America’s largest University. This may have led it to being known as the one of the 7 Smartest Cities in the World."

While in Ohio, why not rent a car and visit Amish Country in Holmes County, less than two hours north of Columbus? This is a beautiful rural area with the world’s largest Amish community. The Amish are Christians known for their distinctive lifestyle and culture, particularly their old-fashioned, plain attire and avoidance of modern technology, as well as their Pennsylvania Dutch language (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amish).

Encounter horse-driven buggies, schoolchildren swinging lunch pails, handmade quilts, Amish cheeses, and more. Particularly worth a visit are the Heritage Center in Berlin, hardware store in Kidron, and an auction. Although unrelated to the Amish, nearby Zoar village, picturesque home to a longstanding communal settlement in the nineteenth century, merits the short detour off interstate highway 77.
