Event Description:
Participants will be divided up into three groups and go through three 50-minute workshops. Two workshops will cover the nuts and bolts of consecutive interpreting with a lot of practical exercises, and there will also be a session on interpreter ethics. Plenty of time for Q&A at the end. Suitable for novice and intermediate interpreters. We only have 24 seats available so sign up now!

Speakers' bio
Cate Swift
Cate Swift has been working as a freelance interpreter and translator for over 25 years. She was born in Detroit, Michigan, but spent many years in Colorado and still considers Colorado her "U.S. base". She has lived in Japan for 17 years. In interpreting, her primary fields of specialization are manufacturing, business and medicine. She enjoys playing the cello and trombone, drawing with pastels, photography, and learning German.
Mikako Miyahara
After graduating from university Mikako spent five years working as a system engineer at an IT company. After marrying and starting a family she started studying interpreting and began her career as an interpreter working in-house at an automobile manufacturer. Since then she has interpreted at business meetings, negotiations, audits, and international conferences both in and outside Japan. Her areas of specialization are IT, manufacturing and marketing.
Mike Sekine
Freelance conference interpreter since 2000, selling his soul for food since forever. Well-versed in business and politics, but his real passion is sports and entertainment. Will cross-check your mother from behind if the price is right. Recently moved from Okinawa to Tokyo.
Both professional interpreters and aspiring interpreters are welcome to attend.
