We'll be taking an in-depth look at the process of translating song lyrics while keeping them singable, examining the ways you need to stretch your brain as a translator once rhythm and rhyme come into the picture. Then, you'll get a chance to try it out for yourself!

About Faye Duxovni

Faye (she/her) graduated MIT in 2018 with a degree in computer science, spent several years working as a software engineer, and finally escaped from the tech industry in 2023 to become a freelance Japanese-English translator. She works primarily on manga, light novels, and anime, and has a particular interest in messy queer stories. Her translation credits include the novel The Despicable Duke Settles His Affairs for the launch of J-Novel Club's BL imprint, and the Netflix anime film Cosmic Princess Kaguya! In her spare time, she enjoys tabletop role-playing games and writing original short fiction.

This event will be presented in English. It will be primarily aimed at translators working from Japanese into English, but anyone interested in lyric translation is welcome to join.
