Statistical Expressions for Med/Pharma Translators
Ah, those impossible-to-avoid, grief-inducing statistical expressions we encounter as pharma translators.
Taking examples from statistics sections of actual regulatory documents and medical papers, Shiho Koizumi
will guide participants though the tricky obstacle course of writing about statistical analyses. Topics to be
covered include how to avoid pitfalls by learning more about individual "enemy" strengths and weaknesses and
which "weapons" will prove effective against the medley of statistical test methods with their confounding names,
in a comprehensible hands-on workshop specifically designed for those of us who develop hives at mention
of anything more sophisticated than a Student's t-test.
Shiho Koizumi became a med/pharma translator after majoring in International Relations at the Kobe City
University of Foreign Studies and working as a checker for a leading pharma translation agency before
focusing on the translation of regulatory and medical documents.
