During the first half of the seminar, the speaker, Akira Takahashi, who makes a decent living by specializing in IT, will offer an insight into the current state of IT translation, a field that is often surprisingly misunderstood. During the second half of the seminar Akira will offer tips on how to effectively use style guides, not just in IT translation but in all fields. (The presentation will be in Japanese.)

Akira Takahashi runs his own translation company, Boshiya Translations K.K.
Translating the game manual for Apple II prompted Akira to quit his job as a teacher at a cram school and to stop translating just anything (he previously translated a wide range of documents ranging from technical to literature), and to start work at a translation company specializing in localization. Akira went freelance in 2007. He is a member of both JAT and the JTF (he is a member of the JTF’s style guide review committee). Teacher of translation at Fellow Academy since 2011.
