The ulcer-inducing clueless (or just mean) client who makes impossible demands. The avalanche of work following a 40-day lull. Five deadlines on the very same day. Wishing you could clone yourself or at least your fingers and brain… These are the everyday challenges of your average freelance translator.
Is it any wonder that so many of us live in perennial fear of the big C?
Recent data suggests 1 in 2 people will develop cancer at some point in their lifetime. Risk factors include stress, an unhealthy diet (who has time to cook with a deadline breathing down your neck?), a sedentary lifestyle (leave my computer? Now?!), etc., ad nauseum. At the same time, cancer has become a curable disease.

Are you up-to-date with all the new technologies and tests that will save you from becoming a statistic? Or is personal health something that ends up on the back burner?

We have the privilege of inviting Dr. Shintaro Kondo, author of the 『医者がマンガで教える 日本一まっとうながん検診の受け方、使い方』(日経BP社)manga book on cancer screening (rough title: “The most reasonable way to be screened for cancer”) to speak to JAT on cutting edge screening methods for cancer. (His book will be on sale at the venue)

The human lifespan is fast approaching 3 figures and medicine is making enormous progress. We invite you to brush up your understanding of how to keep yourself healthy.
