The American Translators’ Association is the only organization in the US to offer a translation certification exam. It is offered in many languages, including Japanese and English. The certification verifies that your translations are at the level of a professional. It is not an entry level exam for those who have never translated before.
The exam will be offered on Friday, April 7th before the IJET conference on The Ohio State University Campus. In preparation, we will be holding this workshop to explain a little about how the exam works and how it is graded. Then, we will break into groups by language pair and work through a sample passage.
Note: The test can only be taken in one direction at a time (meaning only Japanese to English OR English to Japanese). It is recommended that you begin by taking it INTO your native language. You will have to sit for the exam a second time to get the opposite direction certification. Please indicate below which direction you would like to try in the workshop.
