Fellow JAT members,

The cold, dark nights of winter have passed, and spring is upon us. And that means ... JAT Elections!

The JAT Election Committee is pleased to invite upstanding persons to run for either Director or Auditor. Do you have ideas of how JAT can be improved? Do you have a desire to help your fellow translator? Well then...

This year there are FOUR director positions and TWO auditor positions open (all carrying two-year terms). To qualify as a JAT director or auditor candidate, you must have been a member of JAT for a period of no less than one year as of March 20, 2008.

  • 4 directors
  • 2 auditors

Election schedule:

  • Period for candidate submissions: 3/1-3/20
  • Announcement of candidates: 3/21-4/4
  • Voting period: 4/5-4/26

Candidates must submit a candidacy statement to the Election Committee by midnight, March 20, 2008 (JST). Statements of candidacy should be no longer than 300 words in English or 600 characters in Japanese, and must include the candidate's full name, gender, nationality, address of current residence, home telephone number, and e-mail address.

And so, my fellow translators, ask not what JAT can do for you, but what you can do for JAT!! Send your statement to the Election Committee at [email protected]
