Announcing the birth of a new JAT regional committee: the Tohoku Organizing Committee (TOHC)! This past February, JAT held its first ever event in Sendai, a pre-event for the upcoming IJET 25 in Tokyo. The 44 participants showed us that the interest is there and have inspired us to keep the momentum going with more regular meetings.
Our first meeting will be a panel presentation and discussion for sharing information on getting started in translation and interpretation, all based on the experiences of a panel of linguists with varied experience in translation and interpretation.
The session will feature each panelist describing his or her own start in the field and then taking questions from the moderator and audience. Bring your questions about starting out.
We also welcome those interested in talking about the future direction of JAT in Sendai to stay for a few minutes after the panel for an open conversation. A networking dinner will follow.
