JATPHARMA, the pharma special interest group of the Japan Association of Translators (JAT), will hold an in-person meeting in Kyoto on Sunday, October 15. The meeting will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and be followed by a networking banquet.
In the morning, Dr. Fumikiyo Nagawa will give a 90-minute presentation on the immune system and antibody drugs followed by a shorter presentation on negotiating rates by Takayuki Yamamoto. Both presentations will be in Japanese. A networking lunch and afternoon workshops will follow.
Admission is 3500 yen for JAT members and 4000 yen for non-members. The cost and location of the networking banquet will be announced later. Purchase lunch on your own. Click the plus sign below to register for this event.

免疫の仕組みと抗体医薬（名川文清氏）
「概要」
免疫は、極めて巧妙な生体防御システムであり、私たちの健康に大きな役割を果たしている。免疫は、すべての生物が持つ「自然免疫」と、脊椎動物が持つ「獲得免疫」とに大きく分けられるが、両者は相互作用しながら機能している。本講演ではまず、主に獲得免疫の基本的な仕組みについて解説する。次に、この知識を基に、近年開発が加速している抗体医薬について、自己免疫疾患、アレルギー、癌など、免疫に関連する疾患や治療法と関連付けながら概説する。
「略歴」
＜学歴＞ 兵庫県西宮市生まれ、神戸高校卒。京都大学大学院理学研究科生物物理学専攻博士課程修了まで27年間、関西で過ごす。
＜職歴＞ 湧永製薬（株）中央研究所研究員（広島県安芸高田市）（遺伝子工学）、マサチューセッツ工科大学博士研究員およびホワイトヘッド研究所客員研究員（酵母の分子遺伝学）、カリフォルニア大学バークレー校博士研究員（免疫学、神経科学）、基礎生物学研究所助手（愛知県岡崎市）（免疫学、神経科学）、東京大学大学院理学系研究科生物科学専攻講師（免疫学、神経科学）。2019年3月に定年退職。
＜翻訳歴＞2012年より医学論文の翻訳などを開始。2018年2月にAdvanced Professional Translator (APT)（医学・医薬、英日）（日本規格協会）として登録された。日本翻訳者協会（JAT）、日本翻訳連盟（JTF）会員。
＜趣味＞チェロ、コーヒー（J.C.Q.A.コーヒーインストラクター2級）

概要
翻訳者にとって、翻訳価格を上げることは重要なテーマであるが、実際に取引先への価格アップの申し入れは取り組みにくく、価格交渉を行う翻訳者は少数である。一方で、コロナ禍や国際情勢を起因とする最近のインフレや、2023年10月からのインボイス制度開始により、これまでの価格のままでは翻訳者の収入を維持することは難しくなってくる。このプレゼンテーションでは、直近行った以下の価格アップの方法について、個人的な経験を説明する。

概要
近年メディカル分野の翻訳では、機械翻訳(MT)＋ポストエディット(PE)が普及し、重要な翻訳手段の一つとして認識されている。このWorkshopでは、英訳のPE（Full Editing）について、私が普段意識している事項をまとめ説明する。
