Well known in manufacturing, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is looking to draw up standards for translation and the translation industry. Because these may well directly affect JAT members, we think JAT should be part of the effort. This would involve working with the other Japan-based participants to clarify the issues involved and draft standards that protect our members’ interests while advancing the profession as a whole, and then working to get those standards adopted internationally.
