Use of the JAT Logo on Websites
The Japan Association of Translators (JAT) is dedicated to the principle that focusing on the concerns and interests of the individual translators who are engaged in translation, rather than translation companies, is key to advancing the profession. Membership of JAT is therefore limited to individual translators and interpreters.
The policy set out below on the use of the JAT logo on members’ websites or websites of companies and other organizations to which individuals belong is therefore intended to reinforce the fact that only individuals, and not companies or other organizations, can be members of JAT.
(1) Use of the JAT logo on JAT members’ personal websites:
The JAT logo may be used on the website, provided that it is clearly stated that the individual is a member of JAT.
(2) Use of the JAT logo on websites of companies, incorporated bodies, or other organizations (including the websites of individuals trading as sole proprietors):
(a) The JAT logo may be used on the website of a company, incorporated body, or other organization if the member’s name is located adjacent to the JAT logo.
Examples:
-XXX is a member of the Japan Association of Translators
-XXX, JAT member
-XXXは日本翻訳者協会の会員です
-JAT会員、XXX
(b) Provided that all the employees or members of a company, incorporated body, or other organization are members of JAT and a clear statement is made to that effect, the JAT logo may be used on the websites of that company, incorporated body, or other organization without specifying the individual members of JAT by name.
Examples:
-All employees are members of the Japan Association of Translators
-弊社従業員は全員JAT会員です
(3) Use of the JAT logo by other organizations:
The JAT logo may be used by other organizations to promote cooperative events, with the permission of the JAT Board.
(4) Active links:
To link the JAT logo to the JAT website, use the address jat.org/ja to link to the Japanese site and jat.org to link to the English site.
